Tim Allen

Arrest Dates: October 1978, May 1997

Actor/comedian Tim Allen was first arrested in Detroit, Michigan on October 2, 1978, for possession of a pound and a half of cocaine. Allen pleaded no contest to the charges and was sentenced to 5 years in prison. He was paroled after 2 ½ years.

Allen was arrested again in May 1997 for drunk driving in Bloomfield, Michigan. He reportedly almost fell over backwards during the roadside sobriety check. Allen later pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and attend alcohol counseling. Ironically, a drunk driver killed his father when Allen was 11 years old.

Daniel Baldwin

Arrest Dates: 1998, April 2006, July 2006, November 2006, February 2007

In July 2006, actor Daniel Baldwin (brother of actors Alec, Stephen and William Baldwin) was arrested when he crashed a rented Ford Thunderbird into two parked vehicles after driving through Los Angeles traffic at 80 miles per hour. A subsequent check of his motel room turned up narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Earlier, in April 2006, Baldwin was arrested for investigation of cocaine possession, but charges were never filed in that case. Additionally, in 1998, Baldwin was found running naked through the halls of New York’s Plaza Hotel and was arrested for possession of cocaine. He pled guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to three months in drug rehab.

On November 9, 2006, Baldwin was stopped by police in Santa Monica, California while driving a white GMC Yukon that was reported stolen in nearby Orange County. Baldwin was charged with grand theft auto and bail was set at $20,000. The stolen vehicle belonged to an acquaintance of Baldwin’s but he had no permission to take it. The charges were eventually dropped.

On February 6, 2007, an arrest warrant was issued for Baldwin in Newport Beach, California, by the Orange County Superior Court for his failure to show up for an arraignment stemming from the auto-theft charge. At the time, Baldwin was in Detroit, Michigan, filming a movie. He turned himself into police on February 20 and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Mischa Barton

Arrest Date: December 2007

Actress Mischa Barton was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, and driving without a valid license on December 27, 2007. The arrest came after she was pulled over at 2:46 a.m. in West Hollywood, California after she was seen straddling two lanes of traffic and failing to signal for a turn. During the traffic stop police discovered she was an unlicensed driver and was driving while under the influence of alcohol. She was detained and released later the same morning on $10,000 bail. Barton was subsequently charged with two misdemeanors, driving without a valid license, and driving under the influence.

David Bowie

Arrest Date: March 1976

Music legend David Bowie was arrested in upstate New York on a felony marijuana possession charge in March 1976. He was 29 years old at the time. Bowie was arrested along with Iggy Pop and two other codefendants at a Rochester, New York hotel following one of his concerts. He was held in the Monroe County jail for a few hours before being released.

Josh Brolin

Arrest Date: July 2008

Actor Josh Brolin was arrested in July 2008 by Louisiana cops and charged with interfering with police business. Brolin was in Shreveport filming an Oliver Stone movie and was at a bar with fellow actors and crew members when police showed up to deal with an allegedly drunk and rowdy patron. According to the police report, Brolin tried to intervene, so he was arrested and booked into the city jail before posting $334 bond and being released.

Glen Campbell

Arrest Date: November 2003

Country crooner, Glen Campbell, was arrested in November 2003 on drunk driving and hit and run charges after he plowed his BMW into another vehicle at a Phoenix, Arizona intersection. Campbell left the accident scene, but was arrested at his nearby home, where cops smelled alcohol on his breath and noted that the singer looked smashed. The singer was also hit with an ‘aggravated assault on a police officer’ charge after he kneed a sergeant in the thigh while he was being booked into the Maricopa County jail. Campbell pleaded guilty in May 2004 to extreme DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. He served 10 nights in jail.

George Carlin

Arrest Date: July 1972

Comedian George Carlin was arrested by Wisconsin police in July 1972 and charged with public indecency for violating obscenity laws by performing the routine “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television.” Carlin was 35 years old at the time. A Milwaukee judge later dismissed the charges against comic.

Later, the routine was played on the radio and subsequent complaints forced a criminal case, eventually ending up in the US Supreme Court. The justices ruled that “the government had the right to regulate broadcasts and performances that were deemed indecent but not obscene.”

The Carlin-Pacifica First Amendment case is now studied by virtually every law student in America and the seven words still can not be used on TV.

Johnny Cash

Arrest Date: October 1965

“The Man in Black,” Johnny Cash, was arrested in October 1965 at the El Paso International Airport after U.S. Customs agents found hundreds of pills (speed and tranquilizers) in his luggage. Cash spent a night in the county jail and later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count, for which he paid a $1,000 fine and received a 30-day suspended sentence.

Macaulay Culkin

Arrest Date: September 2004

Macaulay Culkin, best known for the “Home Alone” movies, was arrested in Oklahoma on September 17, 2004 for possession of marijuana and two controlled substances (Xanax and sleeping pills) for which he did not have a prescription. Culkin, who was 18 at the time, was briefly jailed before being released on $4,000 bond. Culkin’s lawyers reached a plea bargain with the state of Oklahoma and he received three one-year suspended prison terms, a probationary drug treatment program requirement, and a $540 fine.

Joyce Dewitt

Arrest Date: July 2009

Actress Joyce DeWitt, who played Janet on the 1970s TV show “Three’s Company,” was arrested in July 2009 and charged with suspicion of drunk driving. El Segundo police stopped DeWitt, 60 at the time, after she allegedly drove around a barricade at an annual city July 4 fireworks show. After failing a series of field sobriety tests, she was taken to the El Segundo jail where she was cited and released.

Andy Dick

Arrest Dates: May 1999, July 2008, January 2010

Comedian Andy Dick was arrested on May 15, 1999, after he drove his car into a utility pole in Hollywood, California. He was charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and hit-and-run driving. Later, he pleaded guilty to felony cocaine possession and two other misdemeanor charges: marijuana possession and possession of “a smoking device”. After Dick completed an 18-month drug diversion program, a judge dismissed the felony and misdemeanor drug charges against him.

On July 16, 2008, Andy Dick was arrested in Murrieta, California on suspicion of drug possession and sexual battery charges. He allegedly groped a 17-year-old girl’s breasts and pulled her top down. When he was searched, authorities said they found marijuana and Xanax in his front pants pockets.

More recently, on January 23, 2010, Andy Dick was arrested around 4:00 a.m. in a bar in Huntington, West Virginia, on two felony counts of sexual abuse in the first degree.

According to the criminal complaint, Dick was talking to another man when he “unexpectedly and without invitation grabbed the victim’s crotch, repeatedly groping then kissing him.”

Also in the complaint, a security guard at the bar says that Andy Dick “grabbed his crotch and began laughing” when the guard tried to give him an armband.

Matt Dillon

Arrest Date: December 2008

Actor Matt Dillon was arrested by the Vermont State Police
on December 31, 2008, after he was clocked going 106 mph on Interstate 91. He was arrested, booked and given a citation to appear later at the Orange County Court.

Robert Downey Jr.

Arrest Dates: April 1996, August 1999, November 2000, April 2001

In April 1996, Robert Downey Jr. was arrested for possession of heroin, cocaine and an unloaded .357-caliber Magnum handgun, while he was speeding down Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. A month later, when on parole, he trespassed into a neighbor’s home while under the influence of a controlled substance, and fell asleep in one of the beds.

Downey was sentenced to three years of probation and required to undergo mandatory drug testing. In 1997, he missed one of the court-ordered drug tests and had to spend four months in the Los Angeles County Jail. When Downey missed another required drug test in 1999, he was arrested once more.

In November 2000, Downey was arrested at the Merv Griffin Resort in Palm Springs for drug possession. He waa arrested again in April 2001, after the actor was busted in a Culver City alley for investigation of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Downey pleaded no contest to the Palm Springs charges in July 2001. He managed to avoid jail time, and instead was sent into drug rehabilitation and put on a three-year probation, benefiting from the California Proposition 36, which had been passed the year before with the aim of helping non-violent drug offenders overcome their addictions instead of sending them to jail.

Recently, Robert Downey Jr. said he has been drug-free since July 2003, thanks to the help of his family, therapy, meditation, twelve-step recovery programs, yoga and the practice of Wing Chun Kung Fu.

Jane Fonda

Arrest Date: November 1970

In November 1970, Jane Fonda was arrested at a Cleveland, Ohio airport after she was stopped by U.S. Customs agents for having a large quantity of pills in her possession. The Federal drug smuggling charges were later thrown out. At the same time, Fonda got into a scuffle with a local policeman and allegedly kicked him. She was slapped with additional charges for assaulting the officer. Those charges were later dismissed.

Zsa Zsa Gabor

Arrest Date: June 1989

While driving through Beverly Hills on June 14, 1989, actress Zsa Zsa Gabor was pulled over by police. When the officer asked Gabor for her license and registration, he determined that they both had expired. While waiting for the officer to confirm her records, Gabor drove away. The cop gave chase, pulled Gabor over again and asked her to leave her vehicle. As she did so, Gabor decided to slap the officer in the process. She was arrested and a subsequent search of her car turned up a flask of bourbon.

Judge Rubin of the Beverly Hills Municipal Court found Gabor guilty of slapping an officer and two of the traffic offenses. Gabor was sentenced to 72 hours in jail, 120 hours of community service, and ordered her to pay court costs of $13,000.

Bill Gates

Arrest Date: December 1977

Microsoft founder, William “Bill” Gates was arrested on December 13, 1977, for allegedly running a stop sign. When he was stopped by the Albuquerque, New Mexico police he was unable to provide the cop with his driver’s license.

Mel Gibson

Arrest Dates: 1984, July 2006

In 1984, actor / director Mel Gibson was arrested for DUI in Toronto after he rear-ended a car. Gibson pled guilty and was fined $300 and banned from driving in Ontario for 3 months.

On July 28, 2006, Gibson was arrested for DUI while speeding in his vehicle with an open container of alcohol. When he was being taken to the police station, Gibson spewed anti-Semitic comments at the arresting officers. Later, Gibson admitted to making anti-Semitic remarks during his arrest and apologized for his “despicable” behavior, saying the comments were “blurted out in a moment of insanity.”

After Gibson’s arrest, his publicist said he had entered a recovery program to battle alcoholism. On August 17, 2006, Gibson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor drunken-driving charge and was sentenced to three years of probation. He was ordered to attend self-help meetings five times a week for four and a half months and three times a week for the remainder of the first year of his probation. He was also ordered to attend a First Offenders Program, was fined $1,300, and his license was restricted for 90 days. Gibson also volunteered to record a public service announcement.

Hugh Grant

Arrest Date: June 1995

British actor Hugh Grant was arrested on June 27, 1995, by Hollywood vice officers after being caught in the act with a prostitute. The actor pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor lewd conduct charge and was sentenced to two years probation, and ordered to pay fine.

Woody Harrelson

Arrest Date: October 1982

Actor Woody Harrelson was arrested in Columbus, Ohio for disorderly conduct on October 12, 1982. According to the arrest record, police responded to call of a young man dancing in the middle of the street, only to find a drunk Woody Harrelson. He was arrested and placed in the back of a police van. However, as the van pulled away, Harrelson broke free, which resulted in a foot chase that ended when Harrelson punched one of the cops. At his trial, Woody Harrelson was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and resisting arrest, but got off lightly with a $390 fine.

Paris Hilton

Arrest Date: September 2006

In September 2006, socialite Paris Hilton was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Hilton’s license was subsequently suspended in November 2006, and in January 2007 she pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge.

Her punishment was 36 months of probation and fines of about $1,500. On January 15, 2007, Hilton was pulled over for driving with a suspended license and signed a document acknowledging that she was not permitted to drive. On February 27, 2007, Hilton was caught driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone, again with a suspended license. She also did not have her headlights on even though it was after dark.

Prosecutors in the office of the Los Angeles City Attorney charged that those actions, along with the failure to enroll in a court-ordered alcohol education program, constituted a violation of the terms of her probation. On May 4, 2007, Hilton was sentenced by Judge Michael T. Sauer to 45 days in jail for violating her probation.

Late on the night of August 27, 2010, Paris Hilton and her boyfriend Cy Waits were pulled over and arrested on the Las Vegas Strip. Waits was arrested on misdemeanor suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and Hilton was arrested on suspicion of felony cocaine possession. Both were booked into the Clark County jail where Hilton was released without bail of few hours later. Waits posted $2,000 bail and was released the next day.

Dennis Hopper

Arrest Date: July 1975

Actor Dennis Hopper was arrested by New Mexico police on July 2, 1975, and was charged with reckless driving, failure to report an accident, and leaving the scene. Hopper, 39 at the time, pleaded guilty to the charges and paid a fine.

Michael Jackson

Arrest Date: November 2003

On November 19, 2003, over 70 law enforcement officers swooped down on Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch to execute a search warrant. Shortly afterward the “King of Pop” was arrested by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s office on child molestation charges. Jackson was released after posting $3 million bail. Jackson was later found not guilty on all charges.

Tommy Lee

Arrest Dates: 1989, 1994, 1998, 1999

Long after a December 1997 incident at a concert in Greensboro, North Carolina, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee surrendered to Greensboro police on October 11, 1999. Allegedly, Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx made racial comments directed toward a black guard and suggested to the crowd to attack him. Sixx and Lee were to said to have poured beer over the guard’s head.

Tommy Lee was formally charged with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and assault plus a felony charge of attempting to incite a racially motivated riot. Lee posted a $5000 bond and was released on his own to appear in court at a later date. On March 7, 2000, Tommy Lee pleaded no contest to the charges and received 18 months of probation.

The Greensboro arrest came eight years after Tommy Lee was arrested on disorderly conduct charges after a Motley Crue concert in 1989, and three years after Tommy Lee was charged with possession of a loaded firearm in 1994.

Married to actress Pamela Anderson at the time, Tommy Lee was arrested in 1998 and charged with spousal abuse, child abuse, and a count related to a firearm. He served four months in prison after pleading no contest.

Heather Locklear

Arrest Date: September 2008

Actress Heather Locklear was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription drugs and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail in September 2008. On January 2, 2009, Locklear pleaded no contest to one charge of reckless driving, a misdemeanor, and in return the district attorney dismissed the DUI charges. Locklear was given three years of informal probation, fined $700, and required to complete a DMV road and safety class.

Lindsay Lohan

Arrest Dates: May 2007, July 2007

On May 26, 2007, actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested after losing control of her 2005 Mercedes Benz convertible and hitting a curb. She was released and subsequently entered a rehabilitation facility for a 45-day stay.

Less than two weeks after leaving rehab, on July 24, 2007, Lindsay Lohan was arrested again when she was pulled over after her SUV was spotted chasing another vehicle at a high rate of speed in Santa Monica, California. Lohan was charged with drunk driving, driving with a suspended license, and cocaine possession.

On August 23, 2007, Lohan pleaded guilty to cocaine use and driving under the influence and was sentenced to one day imprisonment and 10 days community service. She was also ordered to pay fines and complete an alcohol education program, and was given three years of probation. On November 15, 2007, Lohan served 84 minutes in jail. A sheriff spokesman cited overcrowding and the nonviolent nature of the crime as reasons for the reduced sentence.

At a July 6, 2010 probation revocation hearing, the judge determined that Lohan had violated the terms of her probation and sentenced her to 90 days in jail, starting July 20. She was released on August 2 after serving 13 days.  In addition to the jail time, Lohan was ordered to check into an inpatient rehab program for three months then regularly see a probation officer.

John Mayer

Arrest Date: May 2001

In May 2001, musician John Mayer was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia for speeding and for driving without a license.

Matthew McConaughey

Arrest Date: October 1999

In October 1999, actor Matthew McConaughey was arrested in Austin, Texas after a neighbor called complaining about loud music coming from the actor’s home. When police arrived, they found McConaughey dancing around in the nude and playing bongo drums. McConaughey was also charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The drug charges were eventually dropped, though the actor did plead guilty to violating Austin’s noise ordinance, for which he paid a $50 fine.

Steve McQueen

Arrest Date: 1972

In 1972, actor Steve McQueen was arrested for drunk driving in Anchorage, Alaska. He posted bail and left town but was later convicted in absentia for reckless driving.

Jim Morrison

Arrest Date: December 1967

Jim Morrison, legendary lead singer for The Doors, was arrested in December 1967 and charged with breach of peace, resisting arrest, and immoral exhibition. He was caught earlier by New Haven, Connecticut police having sex with a woman in a shower near his dressing room. He was released on $1,500 bail, and later, all charges were dropped with the exception of the breach of peace charge, for which Morrison was fined $25.

Nick Nolte

Arrest Date: September 2002

Actor Nick Nolte was arrested in Malibu, California on September 12, 2002, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Nolte was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol after the actor’s black 1992 Mercedes-Benz was spotted swerving across a Malibu highway. On December 12, 2002, Nolte pleaded no contest to the charges and was given three years of probation with orders to undergo alcohol and drug counseling with random testing required.

Ryan O’Neal

Arrest Date: September 2008

Actor Ryan O’Neal was arrested along with is son Redmond O’Neal on September 17, 2008, after a probation officer visiting Redmond discovered methamphetamine in the actor’s bedroom. Redmond, on probation for two prior drug convictions, was held along with his father on $10,000 bail. Later, the elder O’Neal was ordered to participate in a drug awareness program, with Redmond ordered to receive drug rehabilitation on an outpatient basis.

Ozzy Osbourne

Arrest Date: May 1984

John “Ozzy” Osbourne was arrested in Memphis, Tennessee in May 1984 and charged with public intoxication. According to the police report, Osbourne was “staggering drunk” when he was arrested on Beale Street.

Haley Joel Osment

Arrest Date: July 2006

When returning home from a Los Angeles concert in July 2006, actor Haley Joel Osment crashed his Saturn station wagon and was arrested for drunk driving and marijuana possession. Osment, 18 at the time, suffered minor injuries in the accident and was briefly hospitalized. He was released from custody after posting a $15,000 bond.

Al Pacino

Arrest Date: January 1961

Actor Al Pacino was arrested in January 1961 by the Woonsocket, Rhode Island police for carrying a concealed weapon. Allegedly, police officers noticed a suspicious car and decided to stop it. Inside were Pacino and two other men – all wearing black masks and gloves. On further inspection, the trunk of the car contained a loaded .38 caliber pistol. They were then all booked. Pacino claimed he had the gun because he was on his way to an audition and needed it to get into the role. The charges were later dropped.

Randy Quaid

Arrest Date: September 2009

On September 24, 2009, actor Randy Quaid and his wife Evi, were arrested for skipping out on a $10,000 hotel bill in Santa Barbara, California. The couple were arrested in Texas and posted $20,000 bail each after spending several hours in jail. Charges were eventually dropped against Randy Quaid. Wife, Evi Quaid, plead no contest and was given 3 years probation. She was also required to perform 240 hours of community service.

Aidan Quinn

Arrest Date: October 2003

Actor Aidan Quinn was arrested in October 2003 on a drunk driving charge. Quinn was pulled over by Waterville, Maine police after he was spotted driving his rented car erratically. The actor was in the area filming an HBO production called “Empire Falls”. He was released after posting a $350 bond.

Paul Reubens

Arrest Dates: 1971, 1983, July 1991

Paul Reubens (a.k.a. Pee-Wee Herman) was arrested in Sarasota, Florida on charges of indecent exposure while watching a film in an adult movie theater on July 29, 1991.

Reubens’ attorneys agreed to a plea in which Reubens plead no contest, while maintaining his innocence, so as to avoid what would have been a highly publicized trial. The plea kept the charge off Reubens’ record and obligated him to spend seventy-five hours performing community service by making an anti-drug public service announcement that he would write, produce, and finance.

This was not Reubens’ first arrest in Sarasota County. In 1971 he was arrested for loitering and prowling near an adult theater, though charges were later dropped. His second arrest was in 1983 when Reubens was placed on probation for two years for possession of marijuana.

Mickey Rourke

Arrest Dates: July 1994, November 2007

Actor Mickey Rourke was arrested in November 2007 by Miami Beach police and charged with driving under the influence. He was transported to the Miami-Dade County jail and held on $1,000 bond.

Rourke was arrested previously, on July 18, 1994, for spousal abuse when he slapped and kicked his wife, but the charge was dismissed when his wife stopped cooperating with the prosecutors.

Richie Sambora

Arrest Date: March 2008

Bon Jovi guitarist, Riche Sambora, was arrested on a DUI charge in Laguna Beach, California on the night of March 25, 2008. He had his girlfriend, 10-year-old daughter, and another unidentified juvenile girl in the car with him at the time. At his May 2008 arraignment, he plead no contest “to driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher”, was fined $390, placed on probation for three years, and was required to attend a drivers education course.

Charlie Sheen

Arrest Dates: 1997, May 1998, December 2009

“Two and a Half Men” star, Charlie Sheen (a.k.a Carlos Irwin Estévez), was arrested on December 25, 2009 and booked for second-degree assault along with menacing and criminal mischief, after allegedly attacking his wife, Brooke Mueller in their Colorado vacation home. Sheen, 44 at the time, spent Christmas Day in the Pitkin County Colorado jail and was released after posting an $8,500 bond. In a court appearance on February 8, 2010, Sheen was formally charged with felony menacing, and third-degree assault and criminal mischief.

On August 2, 2010, in exchange for a guilty plea on the misdemeanor third-degree assault charge, prosecutors dropped the charges of menacing and of criminal mischief. Under the plea deal Sheen also agreed to three months probation in which he cannot consume any drugs, other than prescription medication, and cannot drink an excessive amount of alcohol. He also was ordered to attend 36 hours of anger management classes.

Pitkin County District Judge James C. Boyd sentenced Sheen to a 30-day jail term, but suspended it provided Sheen successfully completes his probation and the drug and alcohol rehab program in California.

On May 20, 1998, Charlie Sheen tried injecting cocaine, accidentally giving himself an overdose. He was hospitalized, but discharged from the hospital soon afterward. His father, Martin Sheen, issued a public appeal for fans to pray for him and reported him for violation of parole. A warrant was issued for his arrest and Charlie was sent to rehab.

In 1997, Sheen’s ex-girlfriend Brittany Ashland filed charges claiming that he physically abused her. He was later charged with misdemeanor battery to which he pleaded no contest and was given a year’s suspended sentence, two years of probation and a $2,800 fine.

Sam Shepard

Arrest Date: January 2009

Sam Shepard, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and actor, was arrested in January 2009 on a drunk driving charge. Shepard failed a Breathalyzer test when he was pulled over for speeding in Normal, Illinois while en route to his Kentucky home which he shares with actress Jessica Lange. He pleaded guilty to both charges on February 11, 2009 and was sentenced to 24 months probation, alcohol education classes, and 100 hours of community service.

O.J. Simpson

Arrest Dates: June 1994, September 2007, January 2008

Actor and former Heisman Trophy winner, Orenthal “O.J.” Simpson, was arrested on June 17, 1994 and charged with 1st Degree Murder of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson.

After one of the most publicized trials in history, Simpson was acquitted on Oct. 3, 1995. However, in a civil wrongful-death trial, Simpson was found liable for the deaths of Brown and Goldman. In February 1997, the jury ordered Simpson to pay $33.5 million in compensatory and punitive damages.

In September 2007, a group of men led by Simpson entered a room at the Palace Station hotel-casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and took sports memorabilia at gunpoint.

Simpson, along with three other men, were arrested and charged with multiple felony counts, including criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, assault, robbery, and using a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $125,000 with stipulations that Simpson have no contact with the co-defendants and that he surrender his passport.

In January 2008, Simpson was taken into custody in Florida and flown to Las Vegas where he was jailed for allegedly violating the terms of his bail by attempting to contact Clarence “C.J.” Stewart, a co-defendant in the trial.

Simpson was found guilty of all charges on October 3, 2008, and was sentenced to a total of 33 years in prison with the possibility of parole after 9 years. He is now serving his sentence at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada.

Frank Sinatra

Arrest Date: 1938

Way back in 1938, legendary singer Frank Sinatra was arrested by the Bergen County, New Jersey sheriff for “carrying on” with a married woman. The charges were later changed to adultery and eventually dismissed.

Christian Slater

Arrest Dates: December 1989, December 1994, August 1997, May 2005

On December 29, 1989, actor Christian Slater was arrested in West Hollywood for leading the police on a drunken car chase that ended when Slater crashed his car into a telephone pole. Allegedly, Slater kicked a cop after getting out of his car, then tried to escape over a fence. He was charged with evading police, driving under the influence, assault with a deadly weapon (his cowboy boots) and driving with a suspended license. He was jailed for 10 days.

In December 1994, Slater was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon at New York’s JFK Airport. The actor had packed a gun in his luggage. Slater later reached a plea agreement that required him to spend three days working with homeless children.

In August 1997, Slater was arrested for attacking his girlfriend while drinking heavily, and biting a police officer in the belly. He was sentenced to spend 90 days in a suburban jail in early 1998. Slater was released after 59 days for good behavior. As part of his sentence, he had to serve post-jail time in a drug/alcohol rehab program and attend a year-long program on preventing domestic violence.

Slater was arrested on charges of third degree sexual abuse on May 31, 2005, after a woman claimed that Slater grabbed her buttocks on a Manhattan street.

Anna Nicole Smith

Arrest Date: 1989

Playboy Playmate, Anna Nicole Smith (a.k.a Vickie Lynn Hogan), was arrested in 1989 in Houston, Texas for driving under the influence. Eighteen years after the arrest, Smith died from a lethal combination of prescription and over-the-counter medication on February 8th, 2007, while staying at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Suzanne Somers

Arrest Date: March 1970

In March 1970, Actress Suzanne Somers was arrested in San Francisco, California and charged with passing bad checks. Somers avoided prosecution by paying back the money she owed.

Keifer Sutherland

Arrest Dates: 1989, 1993, 2004, September 2007, May 2009

In 1989, actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested for driving under the influence and carrying a concealed and loaded weapon. In a deal with prosecutors, Sutherland pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving. The other charges were dropped.

Sutherland was arrested again for DUI in 1993, and again, plead no contest. He was given the option of serving 12 days in jail or performing 211 hours of community service, and opted for the latter.

In 2004, Sutherland was arrested again for DUI and was given five years probation.

Sutherland was arrested yet again for driving under the influence on September 25, 2007. He was released on $25,000 bail, and later Sutherland plead no contest to the DUI charge and surrendered to the Glendale, California police to serve a 48-day jail sentence.

Sutherland surrendered to NYC police on May 7, 2009, for head-butting fashion designer Jack McCollough at the Mercer Hotel in SoHo following a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sutherland was chatting with Brooke Shields at the hotel bar when McCollough stepped between them, at which point Sutherland made a comment and responded with a head butt. Several weeks after the incident Sutherland and McCollough issued a joint statement in which Sutherland apologized. Police later dropped the charges.

Rip Torn

Arrest Dates: January 2004, December 2006, December 2008, Jan 2010

Actor Rip Torn was arrested in New York City after his car collided with a taxi in January 2004. A video of his arrest in which he curses at officers and angrily refuses a Breathalyzer test was aired on television news outlets. In October 2004, a jury acquitted Torn of any wrongdoing.

In December 2006, Torn was again arrested for drunk driving in North Salem, New York after his 1995 Chevy Cavalier collided with a tractor-trailer as he attempted to make a turn. Torn pleaded guilty and had his drivers license suspended for 90 days. He was also required to pay a $380 fine.

On December 14, 2008, the actor was again arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. A bartender at the White Hart Inn in Salisbury, Connecticut, reportedly served Torn, but noticed he appeared intoxicated as he was leaving the establishment. Torn reportedly refused a ride home and got into his vehicle with a Christmas tree tied on top and drove away. He was convicted and sentenced to probation in May 2009.

On January 29, 2010, Torn was arrested after breaking into a closed Litchfield Bancorp branch office in Salisbury, Connecticut. The actor maintains a residence in the same town. Torn was charged with carrying a firearm without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal trespassing and third-degree criminal mischief.

On February 1, 2010, Rip Torn appeared in court and his attorney, A. Thomas Waterfall, told the judge that his client needed help with his alcohol abuse and that he could start treatment immediately in New York state. Torn was released on $100,000 bail. As a condition of his release, the judge said Torn must be evaluated for substance abuse.

Vince Vaughn

Arrest Date: April 2001

Vince Vaughn was arrested by Wilmington, North Carolina police in April 2001 and charged with fighting in public for his part in a brawl outside a New Hanover County bar. The actor was in town working on the film “Domestic Disturbance”. During the melee, fellow actor Steve Buscemi was stabbed three times. Vaughn entered a no contest plea and the charge was dropped six months later.

Dawn Wells

Arrest Date: February 2008

In February 2008, 1960s television actress, Dawn Wells, was arrested for reckless driving in Telton County, Idaho. A search of her vehicle revealed two small cases used to store marijuana as well as four half-smoked joints. As part of her plea deal, Wells was sentenced to five days in jail, six months probation and fined $410.

Kevin Spacey is a two-time Academy Award winner and an accomplished actor, producer, writer and director, who is also currently in the midst of a ten year commitment to serve as Artistic Director of The Old Vic Theatre Company in London, England.

Some of Kevin Spacey’s latest screen projects include Men Who Stare at Goats, in which he stars opposite George Clooney;  Casino Jack where he is cast as disgraced Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff; and the film Shrink, where Kevin plays a disillusioned psychiatrist.  Spacey also recently produced and starred as a billionaire inventor in Father of Invention.

Kevin Spacey’s motto is “If you’re lucky enough to do well, it’s your responsibility to send the elevator back down.”  One of things that Kevin has done to send the elevator back down is launch the website Triggerstreet.com which is an online community for unrepresented screenwriters and short film directors.  After its launch, the site immediately took off with thousands of online users uploading their work, reviewing work created by their peers, and participating in online competitions and short film festivals.

Christopher Walken is a talented  actor, dancer, thespian, comedian and writer.  Throughout most of his career, Walken has tended to specialize in playing villains and unbalanced types, though he has had the opportunity to play different kinds of parts on occasion.  For instance, he once played the cat in one of his favorite projects, Puss in Boots, a movie where Chris could be seen singing, dancing, and performing cat-like movements with a feline perfection.

Chris also had a chance to show off his dancing talents in the film, Pennies from Heaven, where he stole the show with a top notch dance routine.  Later, at one particularly memorable party, Walken was personally praised by both Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly for his performance in Pennies from Heaven, a film that would also turn out to be MGM’s very last musical.

Young movie stars, Natalie Wood (Rebel without a Cause, West Side Story) and Robert Wagner (Prince Valiant, A Kiss Before Dying) were married for the first time on December 28, 1957. They divorced in 1962, reunited 10 years later, and remarried on July 16, 1972. Their second marriage lasted until Natalie’s early death when she accidently fell overboard and drowned on the night of November 29, 1981. At the time, Natalie, her husband, the boat’s captain, and Christopher Walken, who was Natalie’s co-star in the film Brainstorm, were spending a Thanksgiving weekend aboard the couple’s yacht which was moored off the coast of Catalina Island. Tragically, nobody onboard noticed that Natalie was missing until it was too late. Her body was found the next morning floating less than two hundred yards offshore. Wood was 43 years old.

Dana and Christopher Reeve

Actors Christopher Reeve (Superman, Somewhere in Time) and Dana Morosini (Above Suspicion, Everyone’s Hero) were married on April 11, 1992. Christopher Reeve became a quadriplegic when he shattered his first and second vertebrae in a horse-riding accident on May 27, 1995. After the accident, the Reeves lobbied on behalf of people with spinal cord injuries, founded the Christopher Reeve Foundation, and co-founded the Reeve-Irvine Research Center. Christopher Reeve also authored two books, “Still Me” and “Nothing is Impossible: Reflections on a New Life”. Christopher died from heart failure on October 10, 2004, at age 52. Dana Reeve followed less than two years later. Although she was a non-smoker, Dana died from lung cancer on March 6, 2006. She was 44 years old.

Priscilla and Elvis Presley

The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, and Priscilla Ann Beaulieu were married on May 1, 1967, at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. Their only child, Lisa Marie, was born exactly nine months later on February 1, 1968. The couple divorced in 1973, but shared custody of their daughter and remained friends until Elvis died on August 16, 1977, at age 42. Presley’s body contained 14 different stimulants and depressants at the time of his death. Shortly after, President Jimmy Carter issued a statement that credited Presley with having “permanently changed the face of American popular culture”. Elvis Presley is buried on the grounds of Graceland in the Meditation Garden.

Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate

Actress Sharon Marie Tate was married to director Roman Polanski from January 20, 1968, until her death on August 9, 1969, when at age 26 she and her friends were brutally murdered by members of Charles Manson’s “Family”. Sharon Tate was nine months pregnant when she was killed. According to the coroner’s report she had been stabbed sixteen times, and five of the wounds were in and of themselves fatal.

Natasha Richardson and Liam Neeson

Natasha Jane Richardson was the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave and the granddaughter of Sir Michael Redgrave. In the summer of 1994, she married Irish actor, Liam Neeson (Schindler’s List, Kinsey). The couple had two sons, Micheál, who was born in 1995, and Daniel, born in 1996. On March 18, 2009, when she was 45 years old, Richardson died following a head injury sustained during a fall while she was taking a skiing lesson at a Quebec resort.

Linda and Paul McCartney

Linda Eastman married Paul McCartney of The Beatles on March 12, 1969. She was a professional photographer, animal rights activist and a member of Paul’s band, Wings. Linda became Lady McCartney when Paul was knighted in 1997. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1995, and died on April 17, 1998, at the McCartney family ranch in Tucson, Arizona. Paul’s last words to Linda were: “You’re up on your beautiful Appaloosa stallion. It’s a fine spring day. We’re riding through the woods. The bluebells are all out, and the sky is clear-blue.”

John Lennon and Yoko Ono

Musicians, peace activists and visual artists, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, were married on March 20, 1969. After The Beatles, John Lennon enjoyed a successful solo career with such acclaimed albums as John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, which produced the iconic songs Give Peace a Chance and Imagine.

On the night of December 8, 1980, Mark David Chapman shot Lennon in the back four times in the entrance of the Dakota apartment building. Earlier that evening, Lennon had autographed a copy of the Double Fantasy album for Chapman. Lennon was taken to the emergency room of nearby Roosevelt Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. On the following day, Yoko Ono issued a statement which ended with the words, “John loved and prayed for the human race. Please pray the same for him. Love, Yoko and Sean.”

John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier

John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Jacqueline Lee Bouvier were married on September 12, 1953. In the 1960 U.S. presidential election, John Kennedy narrowly beat Republican Richard Nixon, and a little over two weeks after the election, Mrs. Kennedy gave birth to the couple’s first son, John, Jr. A second son, Patrick, was born on August 2, 1963, but died two days later.

On November 22, 1963, the First Couple flew on Air Force One from Carswell Air Force Base to Love Field in Dallas, Texas. They were accompanied by Texas Governor John Connally and his wife Nellie. A 9.5-mile motorcade was to take them to the Trade Mart where the President was scheduled to speak at a luncheon. After the motorcade turned the corner onto Elm Street in Dealey Plaza, three gun shots rang out. The President was shot once in the upper back and was killed with a final shot to the head. President Kennedy was 46 years old when he died.

In January 1994, Jacqueline was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of cancer. She died in her sleep at 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 1994, two and a half months before her 65th birthday. She is buried alongside President Kennedy, their son Patrick, and their stillborn daughter Arabella, at Arlington National Cemetery.

Clark Gable and Carole Lombard

Early Hollywood actors, Clark Gable (Gone with the Wind, Mutiny on the Bounty) and Carole Lombard (My Man Godfrey, To Be or Not to Be) were married in March 1939. On January 16, 1942, Lombard was killed in a plane crash at the age of 33, while promoting the purchase of defense bonds during World War II. Gable, who was devastated by her loss, joined the United States Army Air Forces shortly after her death. On January 15, 1944, Gable attended the launch of the Liberty ship SS Lombard, named in his wife’s honor.

Lombard is interred at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California. Although Gable remarried, he was interred next to Lombard when he died in 1960 as the result of a heart attack.

Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio

Baseball legend Joe DiMaggio and screen siren Marilyn Monroe eloped on January 14, 1954. Trouble began brewing in their marriage almost immediately when during their honeymoon in Japan, Monroe was asked to visit Korea as part of the USO. She performed ten shows in four days for over 100,000 servicemen. Things boiled over in September of the same year when Monroe filmed the skirt-blowing scene for The Seven Year Itch in front of New York’s Trans-Lux Theater. Their turbulent marriage dissolved 274 days after the wedding but the couple would go on to remain life-long friends.

On August 5, 1962, Marilyn died at age 36 as the result of a drug overdose. After her death, DiMaggio claimed her body and arranged the funeral. He also had a half-dozen red roses delivered to her crypt three times a week for the next 20 years.

Joe DiMaggio would succumb to lung cancer on March 8, 1999. On his deathbed DiMaggio said, “I’ll finally get to see Marilyn”.

Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee

Singer Bobby Darin met teen star Sandra Dee when they co-starred in the film, Come September. The pair fell in love and were married in 1960. Unknown to most of his fans, Bobby Darin’s health was dangerously fragile and strongly motivated him to succeed within the limited time he feared he had left to live.

His fears materialized when Darin was 37 years old. He entered Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for surgery to repair two artificial heart valves received in a previous operation. The surgery was initially successful but Darin died in the recovery room on December 20, 1973.

Although the couple were divorced in 1967, Sandra Dee never remarried and referred to Darin as the love of her life. Her later years were marked by ill health and she admitted that for most of her life she battled anorexia nervosa, depression and alcoholism. In 2000, it was reported that she had been diagnosed with several ailments, including throat cancer and kidney disease. It was complications from kidney disease that ultimately led to her death on February 20, 2005, at age 62.

Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain

Rockers Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain were married on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii, on February 24, 1992. Love wore a satin and lace dress once owned by the actress Frances Farmer and Cobain wore green pajamas. Six months later, on August 18, the couple’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain was born.

During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with heroin addiction, illness and depression. The pressures of his fame as the lead singer and guitarist of the rock band Nirvana, along with some lifelong personal pressures, finally led to his death at age 27 from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.

A suicide note was found near his body at his home in Seattle, Washington. The note said, in part, “I haven’t felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music, along with really writing . . . for too many years now”. A high concentration of heroin and traces of Valium were also found in Cobain’s body at the time of his death.

George Burns and Gracie Allen

George Burns and his wife Gracie Allen were a comedy team who worked in vaudeville, films, radio and television and achieved substantial success during the decades of the 1930s, 40s and 50s. George Burns wrote most of the material and played the straight man to Allen’s innocent and zany dumbbell persona.

As is often the case with performers who play dumb, Gracie Allen was in reality, highly intelligent. She fought a long battle with heart disease which led to her early retirement and finally to her death from a heart attack in 1964. Afterward, Burns visited her grave once a month, professing to talk to her about whatever he was doing at the time. George would go on to live another thirty-two years and had reached the age of 100 when he died on March 9, 1996.

As much as he looked forward to reaching age 100, Burns also stated that he looked forward to death, saying that the day he died he would be with Gracie again in heaven. When he was interred with Gracie, the crypt’s marker was changed to, “Gracie Allen & George Burns — Together Again.” George had said that he wanted Gracie to have top billing.

January 1965 –

Joely Kim Richardson is the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave and director/producer Tony Richardson and is the granddaughter of Michael Redgrave.  She is an English actress primarily known for her role as Julia McNamara in the television drama Nip/Tuck.

Natasha Richardson

May 1963 – March 2009

Natasha Jane Richardson was the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave and the granddaughter of Michael Redgrave. In 1994, she married Irish actor Liam Neeson and the couple had two sons, Micheál (1995 – ) and Daniel (1996 – ). Richardson died in March 2009, following a head injury sustained during a fall while she was taking a skiing lesson at a ski resort in Quebec.

Lynn Redgrave

March 1943 – May 2010

Lynn Rachel Redgrave was a British theatre and movie actress who was nominated for two Academy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.  Lynn was the daughter of Sir Michael Redgrave and the younger sister of Corin and Vanessa Redgrave.  In 1967, Lynn married actor / director John Clark and they had three children, Benjamin (1968 – ), Kelly (1970 – ), and Annabel Lucy (1981 – ).  Their marriage ultimately ended in divorce in December 2000.

In more recent years, Lynn publically spoke out about her struggle with breast cancer which ultimately resulted in a mastectomy.  Lynn passed away on May 2, 2010, a year after her niece Natasha Richardson died from head injuries sustained in a skiing accident and just a month after the death of her older brother, Corin Redgrave, who died on April 6, 2010.

Corin Redgrave

July 1939 – April 2010

British actor and political activist, Corin William Redgrave, was the son of Sir Michael Redgrave, and the brother of Vanessa and Lynn Redgrave.  Corin has a son, Luke and a daughter, Jemma by his first wife, Deirdre Hamilton-Hill (1943-1997).  Daughter Jemma Redgrave is best known for her title role in the British television series Bramwell.  Corin was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2000, and in June 2005, suffered a heart attack.  He eventually recovered from the heart attack, and in March 2009, Redgrave made his return to the London stage in the title role of the play “Trumbo”.  On the opening night Redgrave dedicated his performance to the memory of Natasha Richardson, his niece, who had died earlier that week following a skiing accident.  Corin Redgrave succumbed to prostate cancer on April 6, 2010.

Vanessa Redgrave

January 1937 –

Actress Vanessa Redgrave was born in London, England on January 30, 1937.   During her distinguished acting career she has won Oscar, Tony, Golden Globe and Emmy Awards.  In 1967, Redgrave was made a Commander (CBE) of the Order of the British Empire, and it is understood she declined a Damehood in 1999. Vanessa is a social activist for human rights and has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 1995.  She is the mother of actresses Joely Richardson and the late Natasha Richardson.

Sir Michael Redgrave

March 1908 – March 1985

Born in Bristol, England, Sir Michael Scudamore Redgrave was an English stage and film actor, director and author.  He was the son of Roy Redgrave, a stage and silent film actor who abandoned his wife and son when Michael was six months old.  Sir Michael Redgrave was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1952 and was knighted in 1959.  Redgrave married actress Rachel Kempson in 1935 and had three children, Vanessa, Corin and Lynn, all of whom had notable theatre and film acting careers.  Sir Michael Redgrave was married to his wife for 50 years until his death from Parkinson’s disease in 1985.

George Ellsworthy Redgrave, stage name Roy Redgrave, was born in Kennington, England.  He was a stage and silent film actor who married his second wife, actress Margaret Scudamore, in 1907.  They had one child, the actor Sir Michael Redgrave, who was six months old when his father left for Australia never to return.

Actor Troy Garity and Mother Jane Fonda

Troy Garity was born Troy O’Donovan Hayden on July 7, 1973.  His surname, Garity, is the family name of his paternal grandmother and used for the sake of anonymity.  Garity is best known for his role as Barry Winchell in the film Soldier’s Girl which earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Mini-series or a Motion Picture Made for Television.  His parents are actress Jane Fonda and activist/politician Tom Hayden.  His uncle is Peter Fonda and his grandfather is actor Henry Fonda.

Bridget Jane Fonda was born January 27, 1964.  Her parents are actor Peter Fonda and artist Susan Brewer.  Bridget made her film debut at the age of five in the 1969 movie Easy Rider as a child in the hippie commune that Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper visit on their trek across the United States.  Later, Bridget’s breakthrough role came when she was cast as a journalist in The Godfather, Part III.   She went on to work in over 40 movies but has not appeared in a film since 2002.  On November 29, 2003, Fonda married film composer and former Oingo Boingo frontman Danny Elfman. They have a son Oliver, born in mid-January 2005.

American actress, writer, political activist, former fashion model, and fitness guru, Jane Fonda, was born Lady Jayne Seymour Fonda on December 21, 1937.  Her name was apparently inspired by Lady Jane Seymour, to whom she is distantly related on her mother’s side.  Jane is the mother of Vanessa Vadim from her marriage to Roger Vadim and Troy Garity from her marriage to Tom Hayden.  Jane has worked in over 40 films and has won two Academy Awards and received several other awards and nominations.

Peter Fonda was born February 23, 1940, and is an icon of the counterculture of the 1960s, having co-wrote, produced and starred in Easy Rider, the classic film for which he is best known. Fonda, and his two other co-writers, Dennis Hopper and Terry Southern, were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Easy Rider.  His performance in Ulee’s Gold (1997) resulted in an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Peter is the father of Bridget and Justin Fonda, by first wife Susan Brewer.

Jane and Peter Fonda are the children of Henry Fonda and his second wife, New York socialite Frances Ford Seymour.  Frances suffered from mental illness and committed suicide on her 42nd birthday while in a New York Sanitarium. Henry Fonda went on to marry three more times.

Henry Fonda, (May 1905 – August 1982) appeared in over 100 films, television programs, and shorts through the course of his career and remains one of America’s most revered actors.  He appeared in many critically acclaimed films, including such classics as 12 Angry Men and The Ox-Bow Incident.  His roles in 1940’s The Grapes of Wrath and 1981’s On Golden Pond earned him Academy Award nominations.  He won the Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama for On Golden Pond.

Fonda started his career as a Broadway actor before becoming well known for his work in films. He continued stage acting throughout his last years, including several demanding roles in Broadway plays. In 1979, the Tony Awards committee gave Fonda a special award for his achievements on Broadway. Lifetime Achievement awards from the Golden Globes and Academy Awards followed in 1980 and 1981, respectively.

Fonda was married five times and had three children. Daughter, Amy (born 1953), was adopted during Fonda’s marriage to his third wife, Susan Blanchard. Fonda married his last wife, Shirlee Mae Adams, in 1965 and remained with her until his death from heart disease on August 12, 1982.

Drew Blyth Barrymore was born into the Barrymore acting family dynasty which includes the legendary thespian siblings John, Lionel and Ethel Barrymore. Though she comes from a long line of acting dynamos, Drew Barrymore has carved out her own niche in the industry and has solidified her status as an acclaimed actress, film producer and director.

John Barrymore, Jr.

June 1932 – November 2004

John Blyth Barrymore, Jr. was married four times and was the father of four children. In 1981 he married Drew Barrymore’s mother, Ildiko Jaid Mako, also known as Jaid Barrymore. The couple divorced in 1984. John’s children were his biggest achievement since he failed in his acting career and struggled with alcoholism and drug addiction for most of his adult life.

John Blyth Barrymore

John Sidney Blyth Barrymore is the paternal grandfather of Drew Barrymore. During the 1920s and 30s John Barrymore was considered the “world’s greatest actor.” John’s third wife, Dolores Costello, was the mother of John Barrymore Jr. and paternal grandmother of Drew Barrymore. John Barrymore, also known as “The Great Profile” struggled with alcoholism during his later years and eventually died from Cirrhosis of the Liver at the age of 60.

Ethel Barrymore

August 1879 – June 1959

Ethel Mae Blythe, stage name Ethel Barrymore, was the aunt of John Barrymore Jr., and the great-aunt of Drew Barrymore. She was a famous stage actress for 60 years and is considered by many to be the greatest actress of her generation.

Lionel Barrymore

April 1878 – November 1954

Lionel Herbert Blythe, stage name Lionel Barrymore, is the uncle of John Barrymore, Jr., and the great-uncle of Drew Barrymore. Lionel Barrymore was a character actor and director who appeared in over 200 films during his career. He won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in A Free Soul (1931), and is probably most well known for his role as Mr. Potter, the miserly banker, in It’s a Wonderful Life (1946).

Maurice Barrymore

September 1849 – March 1905

Herbert Arthur Chamberlayne Blythe, stage name Maurice Barrymore, was the patriarch of the Barrymore acting family and Drew Barrymore’s great-grandfather. Maurice Barrymore and his wife Georgiana Drew had three children, Lionel, Ethel and John; all of whom became world famous as they pursued their acting careers.
